Gurmukhi arts like music are being taught by today’s resources. In today’s era, teaching music through distance mode is the need of the hour for the promising music students of the country. The mobile revolution and the availability of the internet have opened important doors for this. Distance education system is a method of education that transcends geographical boundaries and exists as a powerful tool in providing quality education. The present paper aims to explore the potential of distance education in the field of music education, highlight its benefits, challenges and the ways in which it can be beneficial to music students and teachers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

A few decades ago, there was a lot of inconvenience in maintaining and transporting musical instruments. Nowadays, digital instruments are available in music whose sound quality is also good and we can use them in our mobile or laptop. There is no problem in bringing and carrying digital instruments. <\/span>The presented research paper presents a detailed study on the possibilities of teaching classical music through distance education, its relevance, effectiveness and challenges in the present time. The aim is to assess its potential to benefit aspiring musicians, teachers and students in the digital age. Distance learning creates new pathways for musicians through technology and online platforms, regardless of geographic boundaries. Its inclusive approach democratizes music training, promotes diversity and provides an opportunity to those individuals who, despite having musical aptitude, are otherwise deprived of music education. The aim of the study is to identify strategies to make teaching effective through a comprehensive analysis of music teaching methods, curriculum design and technological tools. This medium of instruction is not limited to students only. It is equally important for music teachers and institutions as they face teaching challenges on digital platforms. Distance education system is a new possibility in the context of classical music. Before this, this art had been developing and spreading only through oral teaching. The teacher can teach the teaching techniques of singing, playing and dancing only by sitting face to face. The Guru Shishya tradition can be made more effective through digital medium. Nowadays only 20-30 students are taught in a class whereas a large section of music learners are not able to become a part of this teaching. Through digital medium, a guru can make a large group aware of the nuances of music. The objective of this research is not limited to the scope of education. The adoption of distance learning in classical music has the potential to revolutionize the music industry and promote cultural exchange on a global scale. With the ability to transcend geographical boundaries, this approach enables collaboration between composers, musicians and performers from diverse backgrounds, promoting inter-cultural understanding and enriching the global classical music landscape.<\/span><\/p>

About Author<\/span><\/b><\/p>

Dr. Bhagat Singh passed BA, MA (Hindustani classical Music vocal) from University of Delhi, in 2003 and 2005. He received his M.Phil. and Ph.D. from the same University in 2007 and 2012. He is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Music, Manyavar Kanshiram Govt Degree College Ghaziabad. His thesis on M.Phil. was focused on the problems of music teaching among children. His Ph.D. dissertation focused on children\u2019s all-round development through music education. His teaching experience is more than 15 years in the area of Hindustani Classical Music. He has published 20 research papers in national \/International Peer Reviewed journals. He has won many prizes in Delhi Govt as <\/span>Prashasti Ptra <\/span>by Delhi Sanskrit Academy for best Sanskrit shlok composing, Jhandewalan, first prize for classical vocal in Delhi govt teachers by Delhi Govt, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishna Global Educator Award by ICERT.
