Abstract

Work-Life Harmony refers to the deliberate and effective integration of professional responsibilities with personal life goals. It involves managing and balancing one’s career ambitions alongside aspects such as personal happiness, autonomy, family commitments, and spiritual well-being. This balance plays a pivotal role in influencing job satisfaction, employee loyalty, and overall work performance. Modern societal and economic shifts—such as increased globalization, the rise of dual-income households, the predominance of nuclear families, and continuous technological advancements—have all contributed to growing challenges in maintaining this balance. Female professionals, especially, find themselves in a demanding position, often caught between organizational expectations, domestic responsibilities, individual goals, and the pressures of adapting to technological change. At the same time, organizations themselves face numerous pressures including economic instability, fierce market competition, rising operational costs, tight deadlines, and regulatory constraints. These challenges often lead to cost-cutting measures and a push for higher efficiency, which can inadvertently place greater stress on employees and disrupt their personal lives. Thus, it is essential for organizations to create policies and work environments that promote healthy Work-Life Harmony, ensuring that employee productivity is sustained without compromising personal well-being. This study focuses on identifying the factors that impact Work-Life Harmony among married female employees working in government sectors within the Aligarh division. This research used SPSS software for analysing the statistical data received from married women employees of various government departments in Aligarh Division. The aim is to explore the obstacles they encounter and suggest practical approaches to help overcome these barriers.

Flexible work arrangements, remote options, and childcare accessibility emerge as key factors in facilitating this balance. Furthermore, a nurturing workplace culture and strong correlations between various support systems (officer, co-worker, spouse, domestic) and positive parenting suggest that holistic organizational support is vital. Addressing these needs is not just an issue of employee well-being but a strategic imperative for enhancing productivity and ensuring the long-term success of government organizations within the Indian context.

Hitesh Kumari She is a Research Scholar (Ph.D.) at Institute of Business Management & Commerce, Mangalayatan University, Aligarh (U.P.) and is a MBA in (HR) and has experience of working in government department for more than a decade.

Dr. Saurabh Kumar He is having more than 17 years of teaching experience. His research interest spans over HR & Regulatory Framework.
