Empowering the next generation of change-makers, the Sophia-linked ICERT Education Division successfully co-organized the Indo-Global Adolescent Summit (IGAS-2024) in Kathmandu, Nepal, from June 10-12, 2024. Held at the Himalayan College of Management (HCM), this summit focused on the critical theme: “Environmental Sustainability Design: Challenges & Solutions”.
Igniting Sustainable Innovation The summit provided a platform for adolescents aged 13-18 to engage with global experts on pressing environmental issues.
Highlights:
Participants explored diverse sub-themes aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including:
Climate & Energy: Tackling global warming, renewable energy, and green computing.
Conservation: Addressing biodiversity crisis, deforestation, and wildlife management.
Healthy Life for All: Exploring the link between environmental justice, hunger, and universal health.
Circular Economy: Strategies for “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” and e-waste management.
Key Summit Highlights:
Indo-Global Student Legislature: A Model United Nations (MUN) simulation where students stepped into the roles of global influencers to debate parliamentary processes and decision-making at the UN.
Global Environmental Ambassador Awards: Exceptional students were recognized for their innovative designs and presentations assessed by a panel of international experts.
Knowledge Exchange: High-level sessions included Keynote Addresses, Fireside Chats, and Panel Discussions, allowing students to voice their “Young Voices” on global citizenship and eco-schooling.
Publication: Selected research articles by students were featured in Eduphoria-An International Multidisciplinary Magazine.
Global Leadership in Action The event, led by Chief Patron Dr. Navneet Kaur By bridging academic research with youthful creativity, the summit reaffirmed ICERT’s commitment to fostering a sustainable society through inclusive education.
